Rain Day

Thursday started out as any other normal working day. Storm warnings had been issued.....
Oman TV weather report
but nothing to worry about......or so we thought. My class went ahead at 8 and at 9:30 students were saying that their parents were coming early to get them before the weather turned bad. At 10am the sky went black, scary pitch black, ten minutes later the heavens opened and down came the rain.
Just minding our own business!
Looking a little dark

The running men
Still running

Wait for me!

By ten thirty all classes were cancelled, thunder was rolling overhead and the electricity was flickering on and off. Girls were running in the halls trying to make their way to the buses in the carpark waiting to take them home to the university accommodation. I had cleared my desk and getting ready to risk my life battling the traffic home. I opened the door leading to the carpark and there I was faced with the biggest puddle EVER, and here's me in my black suede boots. I'm not meant to be running let alone jumping over puddles just yet and to tell you the truth I had visions of this happening. . I swam/ran to the car and got ready to do battle.

Me, driving through a rather large puddle

Wadi getting closer.......
....and closer

A wadi flowing through

What is a wadi I hear you ask.....Wadi (Arabicوادي‎ wādī) is the Arabic term traditionally referring to a valley. In some cases, it may refer to a dry  riverbed that contains water only during times of heavy rain or simply an intermittent stream.Warnings are always issued telling us to stay away and not to drive through them, but folks here just don't listen. The heros, the Royal Omani Police, risk their own lives trying to save people.

Buraimi, where I live, was hit the hardest-

The weather has been crap all over the weekend, been stuck in the house and not able to go out as the roads have been flooded here.  I have cleaned out my knicker drawer, made a Christmas cake, and rearranged the Christmas tree......three times. My arse has gone numb from sitting on the sofa. I hope that is not a bed sore on my arse!

Muscat was hit also , here are some photos in and around Muscat.

Methinks I need a pair of these!
